  1. Stone Soup $$:  Great atmosphere and diverse menu of comfort food: “The focus is on fresh healthier foods. Ilya believes the portions in most places are out of control and so are the calorie counts, so he focuses on air-cooking, locally based produce, sorbet gelato, and veggie-based soups. That’s not to say they don’t have a three-cheese broccoli soup that you really don’t want to discuss with your trainer, but for the most part this place is all about making you feel good”
  2. Zydeco $$:  (NOTE: we will have our Saturday dinner here as a group on Saturday) Zydeco Brew Werks is a craft mini brewery and social eatery offering a New Orleans inspired experience in the heart of historical Ybor City.  Modern yet nostalgic, it was founded by a collective of those passionate about the craft beer scene, and exceptional food and service.  We set out to create a space that's as warm as it is cool. A place where friends can come together, and strangers become friends.
  3. Sushi House $$:  One of two sushi venues on our list.  Near the Ybor Museum this restaurant is in a cozy historic bungalow.
  4. Acropolis:  $$:  Lively authentic Greek venue with inside or café seating, a historic and artistic flair, music, and occasional dancing with napkin and plate tossing.  Water pipes available in the sidewalk seating area.  “Our services offer a fine revival dining in a high energy atmosphere featuring belly dancing, plate breaking, napkin throwing, zorba dancing and live music; all this to recreate the ancient culture of the Greeks delivered to you at a dining experience like no other.”
  5. Al’s Finger Lickin Good Barbeque $:  One of the best and authentic BBQ venues in Tampa (not a fancy place).  “The way we barbecue is Tennessee-style.  We have a dry rub on our meants and use a tomato based barbecue sauce.  The ribs are smoked for at least 2 hours, chicken 2.5 hours, port butts 6-8 hours, and beef 4 hours.  Sides are made fresh daily.  Awesome pies and cakes for desert.”
  6. Gaspar’s Grotto $$:  The notorious “pirate bar” of Ybor City.  Extensive outside patio seating area as well as indoor table service with a great view for people-watching.  Great extensive and varied menu at decent prices (fish, burgers, chicken, Mexican, sandwiches, salads, pizza, etc.)
  7. Carmine’s $$:  An Ybor institution that promotes traditional food from the nationalities that contributed to Ybor’s cigar heritage – Italian, Cuban, and Spanish.  “For dinner Carmine’s prides itself on the Crab Enchilado, fresh fileted Gulf Grouper, Angus Beef, Italian Sausage, Pasta and Homemade Sauces.  We invite you to step into Carmine’s 7th Avenue and enjoy an eclectic blend of the best flavors that Ybor City has to offer”
  8. James Joyce Irish Pub $:  50 beers on tap and a great assortment of traditional Irish pub food (Bangers n Mash, Fish n Chips, Guinness Glazed Chicken, burgers, etc.  Traditional pub atmosphere.
  9. La Creperia $:  For a lighter dinner enjoy crepes of all sorts of fillings from savory chicken, beef, and seafood to ham, turkey, and vegetarian.  Also wraps, panini, pasta, and sweet crepes for desert.
  10. La Terraza $$$:  Perhaps the most intimate traditional Italian restaurant in Ybor City.  ALWAYS busy and few tables so call for a reservation (tell Luigi that Gen Scott sent you).  “Perfectly mastered Northern Italian classics from the Emilia Romagna region paired with it's friendly and unpretentious atmosphere exudes an aura of dining in Italy.  Great food, exceptional menu selections, and friendly professional service make this place well suited for a casual light lunch, a romantic dinner, or a fun meeting” place with friends and family. Due Amici $:  Ybor’s best pizza place.  Sauces so good they are sold in local stores.  Great clean seating area with lots of style.  “Our business started over a quarter of a century ago, as we wanted to create an eatery where quality food and old-world Italian tastes combine. We take pride in our food, handcrafting our sauces to compliment the flavors in our dishes. Our pizza dough is made in-house, hand-spun, topped with the freshest ingredients, and carried to the oven with love. Each dish contains a little piece of Italy, whether it be San Marzano tomatoes straight from Italy or the natural sea salt located off the coast of Sicily. Our goal is to provide our customers with real, old world Italian taste cuisine, in an environment that feels like home.”

Bernini $$$:  An Ybor City landmark located in a renovated bank building.  Brick oven pizza and a lively, quaint inside dining area and outside sidewalk seating.  Known for it’s $3 Martini special as well as great Italian influenced menu.  “Featuring a menu with an outstanding array of culinary delights from Italian Eggplant smothered in house made Pomodoro sauce and Fresh Pecoino Romano cheese to the half Crispy Duck with Dried Cherry & Vanilla Chianti Demi-Glace to the Fresh daily Pistachio Crusted Gulf Grouper with Marsala Brown Butter Sauce, and much more. And of course, to compliment this exquisite dining experience, Bernini has a fully stocked bar including top shelf liquors, crafted cocktails, and one of the most impressive wine lists in the Bay area.”

El Puerto $$:  This is the hidden gem of Ybor City.  They do not advertise so only locals know about this fantastic Latin American grill house.  The best ceviche this side of the Gulf of Mexico and great chicken, fish, beef, and rice dishes.  “Chef Umana has over 20 years of experience working in the international Latin cuisine industry. Collecting and perfecting traditional recipes from countries like Argentina, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador and Cuba, he now brings you El Puerto Restaurant and Grill at the corner of 5th and 17th in Ybor City!”
  15. Buffalo Wild Wings $:  For those who want the ultimate American Sports Bar experience this burger pub has an extensive menu, lively atmosphere, and the most and biggest TVS in Ybor for those who want to watch sports.
  16. Tequila’s $:  Ybor’s colorful, upbeat, Mexican restaurant.  Large courtyard outside seating area and casual indoor dining.  Traditional assortment of Mexican dishes as well as margaritas, sangria, beer, and tequila.
  17. Asiatic Street Food and Noodle bar $:  Very casual and very tasty Thai food in a bustling crossroads of Ybor City.
  18. Tampa Bay Brewing Company $$:  One of Tampa’s largest and most popular microbreweries.  Spacious and inviting outdoor seating centered around a bubbling fountain with great views of the Centro plaza and passing streetcar traffic.  Pub food and steaks with great burgers.
  19. Samurai Blue $$:  The most popular sushi restaurant in Ybor City.  ALWAYS busy so reservations recommended here.  “Samurai Blue Sushi & Sake Bar is the ultimate sushi destination in the Tampa Bay Area since 2001. The menu combines both a modern and traditional sushi dining experience offering the freshest fish and ingredients. We also serve premium steaks, fresh seafood and chicken entrees.”
  20. Carne Chop House $$$:  The place to go in Ybor for great steak and seafood.  Located in the historic Centro Espanol social club building.  Prime Rib special $9.99 from 4 to 6:30 pm.  Great atmosphere in a place where the cigar craftsmen of another era used to congregate.
